As President Obama lieua’s in Hawaii, Carol Platt Liebau of Town Hall comments on the Obama administration’s disturbing response to the terrorist attack on Northwest Airlines flight #253 on Christmas day by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year old Nigerian with ties to al Qaeda.
As reported by CNN, Umaru Abdul Mutallab, the father of the terrorist contacted the Nigerian U.S. Embassy saying his son had "become radicalized. The father also told the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria that he had concerns his son was “planning” something. Mutallab's information about his son was forwarded to the National Counter-Terrorism Center, and Abdulmutallab was added to a general watch list, a senior Obama administration official said. But the official said "the info on him was not deemed specific enough to pull his visa or put him on a no-fly list."
So how was Abdulmutallab's terrorist attack thwarted? Jasper Schuringa, a passenger on flight #253 with Abdulmutallab, subdued him, stripped off Abdulmutallab's clothes to ensure he had no other explosives and then handcuffed the terrorist attacker with the help of a crew member.
So here is a case where a father informs the Obama administration that his son has become radicalized, has ties to al Qaeda and his father also tells the U.S. embassy in Nigeria that his son is planning something. And the best the Obama administration does is put the son on a general watch list? What’s even more disturbing, as mentioned by Ms. Liebau, is that not only did the Obama administration NOT put Mr. Abdulmutallab on a ‘no-fly” list, the Obama administration actually thinks they did something to prevent the attack! Please see in the attached video of Obama’s fearless Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano who actually has the gall to say that the result of the Northwest Airline terrorist attack showed that the Obama administration's security system “worked”. Worked! What worked is that Mr. Schuringa, a passenger on the plane, did Mr.Obama and Ms. Napolitano’s job for them.
The Obama administration’s national security incompetence, impotence, political correctness with Muslims or all of the above contributing to compromising America and the world’s national security is alarming and dangerous.
